L’incantevole fascino dell’Arco Azzurro

The charm of the Arco Azzurro: between the sea and the rocks

The Arco Azzurro is a rocky monument which overlooks the coast at Aspra, an hamlet belonging to the town of Bagheria. After being confiscated from the mafia it has been recognized as environmental asset, and opens from the coast of Santa Flavia to the coast of Aspra.

Located at 11m a.s.l., it seems that it delimits the azure blue sea from the cerulean sky of Mongerbino. This suggestive natural bridge exclusively rocky has indeed been included in the geological sites of major national interest by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research.

The Arco Azzurro is also called “the Arch of Kisses”, because in the 70s the famous agency Baci Perugina chose him as location for one of their spots, from this time it became a symbol for the generations of lovers.

The place can be reached through a small slightly steep descent, which will take to the arch with a very suggestive sea-view. Once you arrived there, there are some signs with an explanation of the flora and fauna and about the story of this geo-site.

It is lead by groups of associations that, thanks to a very cheap price which allows you to visit, manage to maintain the place clean and unpolluted.

Today the Arco Azzurro is considered one of the most charming geo-sites in Sicily.
